Regional district encourages ‘fun hats’ to celebrate B.C. Trails Day

The public is invited to wear their favorite hats as they participate in a hike to mark B.C. Trails Day this Saturday in the Central Okanagan.
The hike along the 6.5 kilometre trail in Mission Recreation Park between the Lexington Drive and Durnin Road trailheads will also act as a celebration to mark the Regional District of Central Okanagan Parks’ 50th year.
“Hats off to trails is a family-friendly opportunity to experience B.C. Trails Day with a creative twist,” Rose Maunder, RDCO Event Planner and Park Interpreter, said.
“We are thankful to community groups who will be joining us and we are really excited to hold an event for residents to mark the occasion of our 50th year to help them connect with nature on the Greenway.”
B.C. Trails Day is June 1, and people are encouraged to enter either of the park accesses and hike the trails. Those who do the entire 6.5 km trek can then hop on a shuttle to get a ride back to the trailhead they came in from.
Visitors who wear their favourite festive and fancy hats on their walks will be entered into a draw to win prizes.
Community exhibitors and festive performers will also be walking the trails.
