Thousands provide input on food waste program

The Regional District of Central Okanagan is gathering feedback until next Tuesday, July 2 on what residents would like to see in a curbside food waste collection program.

The process will determine what the costs could be, and what the next steps will be.

Close to 3,000 people have already given input — and others can do the same by going to yoursay.rdco.com to complete a short survey.

RDCO said the purpose of Phase Two is to gather more specific feedback to help shape what food waste collection in the Central Okanagan could look like, including:

  • Elements to be considered when locating a transfer station
  • How often your garbage is collected, weekly or biweekly
  • Costs related to collection, transport, and processing of food waste
  • Further opportunities for engagement
  • Residents’ preferred methods for education and outreach
