Four people rescued from Kelowna house fire
Kelowna firefighters were able to save four people trapped in a house fire.
The Kelowna Fire Department said crews received a call around 7:40 a.m. Thursday, August 15, of a house on fire with a resident and three visitors trapped in the basement.
Crews arrived and were able to get two of the people out through a basement window, and the other two through a back door.
The fire department said an occupant was trying to put out the fire with a garden hose when crews arrived. Three people were taken to hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Firefighters also managed to rescue some pets from the home.
The fire was contained to the contents of a room and did not spread, so it was quickly extinguished. It is not considered suspicious in nature, but the cause remains under investigation.
The resident of the home is being assisted by Emergency Support Services.
The Kelowna Fire Department reminds people to check their smoke alarms.
