Industrial fire in West Kelowna continues to burn

West Kelowna Fire Rescue continued to battle an industrial fire shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Fire Chief Jason Brolund said the fire in an industrial manufacturing building near Stevens and Industrial Roads were being actioned by fire apparatus and crews from all stations.

The building on fire is used for heavy manufacturing and there are compressed gas cylinders around the site, so crews are working with the company to make sure those cylinders are moved away from the fire scene.

The RCMP had also tactically evacuated surrounding buildings.

No residential structures were at risk as of last update, and the fire department asked people to stay out of the area until the fire has been extinguished.
