Over $11,000 worth of items were stolen from the Okanagan Observatory.

Kelowna RCMP said two suspects broke into a C-Can at the observatory near Big White Ski Resort in the early morning of Wednesday, August 21.

Police said surveillance footage showed the two suspects break in and steal five telescopes, an articulating eye piece, and several other items.

“These are critical pieces of equipment for the operation of the observatory and we are asking for the public’s assistance in locating them,” Sgt. Laura Pollock, Kelowna RCMP Media Relations Officer, stated.

Anyone with information relating to the theft or the suspects, or has dash cam or surveillance footage from the area between 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300, or to file an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
