Fatal crash caused closure of highway through West Kelowna

One person was killed in a collision on Highway 97 in West Kelowna on the morning of Oct. 3.

RCMP stated a motorcycle and a transport truck collided on the highway near the intersection with Grizzly Road, and the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The truck driver remained at the site of the crash and was reportedly cooperating with the investigation.

No criminality was suspected in the fatal collision though the investigation was ongoing with the RCMP reconstructionist called in to survey the scene.

Traffic was being rerouted around the area during the initial investigation, but the road was fully reopened as of 3 p.m. Thursday.
