Highway 97 closed outside Lake Country for assault investigation

Police have closed Highway 97 between Lake Country and Kelowna as an assault is being investigated.

Kelowna and Lake Country RCMP said the assault occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 6.

Local police along with the Southeast District’s Emergency Response Team were tasked with investigation the incident.

As police continue their operation, Highway 97 was closed in both directions between Beaver Lake Rd. and Old Vernon Rd.

Mounties said they would reopen the highway at a later, undetermined time.
