Environment Canada is warning that heavy snow could fall on the Okanagan Connector, Coquihalla and Trans-Canada.

The weather agency issued a Snowfall Warning for the Connector and for Highway 1 between Eagle Pass and Rogers Pass Tuesday, Dec. 17.

The forecast for those two roads called for between 15 and 20 centimetres of snow falling on the highway before Wednesday morning, with the possibility of up to 30 cm in higher elevations, as a west Pacific frontal system moves into the Southern interior.

That storm was also expected to bring up to 30 cm of snow to the Coquihalla by Wednesday morning.

Environment Canada warns that the storm could blow snow around, causing reduced visibility, and cause road conditions to become hazardous.

Travellers were advised to drive to conditions, allow extra travel time, maintain safe following distances, have snow tires equipped and use chains when needed, make sure vehicles are in working condition, and pack food and water for long trips.

People can also check road conditions at DriveBC before getting behind the wheel.
