ElectionsBC has issued three administrative monetary penalties in relation to the 2022 General Local Elections, including two in Kelowna.

The non-partisan agency that oversees elections in British Columbia issued the fines against Spirit Alliance and Michael Dudenhoeffer in Kelowna Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Spirit Alliance was fined $750 for accepting a prohibited contribution.

Dedenhoeffer faced a $1,250 penalty for failing to return a prohibited contribution.

The other fine was against the Burnaby Citizens Association for a sum of $600. This case involved “accepting a prohibited contribution other than through a Financial Agent / failing to return a prohibited contribution.”

ElectionsBC launched investigations into the contributions to Spirit Alliance and the Burnaby Citizens Association in April of 2024, and the issuance of the penalties marks the end of that process.
