A prescribed burn will take place near Jack Seaton Park in Lake Country this month.
The B.C. Wildfire Service, in partnership with the Lake Country Fire Department, will do a prescribed burn covering up to 3.81 hectares of terrain in the park area.
The burn could happen as early as Wednesday, March 19, weather and site conditions permitting.
The BCWS stated the key goals of the burn include returning a natural and necessary process to the land base; removing forest fire fuels; and provide a cross-training opportunity between the local and provincial firefighting agencies.
The Wildfire Service said smoke may be visible in Lake Country and the surrounding area while the burn is conducted.
