A new non-stop air link between the Okanagan and the nation’s capital is set to begin this spring.

Kelowna International Airport and Porter Airlines announced direct service between Kelowna and Ottawa will launch May 13, with five round-trip flights per week.

City and airport officials said the route is expected to improve access to Eastern Canada while supporting business travel and tourism in the region.

Mayor Tom Dyas said the connection strengthens ties between Kelowna and Ottawa and reflects continued growth at the airport.

The flights will be operated using Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The airline already offers service from Kelowna to Toronto.

Airport CEO Sam Samaddar said the added route expands travel options for residents and visitors and signals confidence in the Okanagan market.

Porter said the Ottawa hub also offers onward connections to destinations in Atlantic Canada.

Flights are now available for booking through the airline and travel agents.
