Following a public hearing, the Central Okanagan Regional District Board has advanced a package of bylaw changes to allow short-term rentals in Central Okanagan electoral areas.

The proposed elements include requiring a licence before operating a short term rental and having proper RDCO-issued signage showing that a dwelling is operating a short term rental.

Also, a “designated representative” would need to respond to a complaint within two hours.

The bylaw proposes an application fee of $200 and an annual licence renewal fee of $400 to cover a portion of RDCO’s administration costs.

The bylaw changes still require provincial approval.
