UPDATE: New wildfire fraying nerves in Penticton
UPDATE 9:00 p.m. Aug. 29
The Skaha Creek fire southwest of Penticton has grown to 100 hectares and is very visible from the city a few kilometretres away.
No structures are threatened at this time.
UPDATE: The Skaha Creek wildfire is now mapped at 100 ha in size. Structures remain unaffected at this time. Flames may be visible to #Penticton, #BCHwy97 and surrounding communities. Fire activity is expected to reduce over the course of the night.

BC Wildfire crews continue to action a new wildfire southwest of Penticton.
The latest update shows the Skaha Creek fire at 17 hectares.

New wildfire in Okanagan 10:35 a.m. Aug.29
Fire crews are battling a new wildfire in the Okanagan.
It’s near Skaha Lake, southwest of Penticton, and broke out Saturday.
The Skaha Creek fire is listed at 17 hectares and is believed to be human caused.
UPDATE: The Skaha Creek wildfire is now estimated to be 6 hectares. 23 #BCWildfire ground personnel are on site. Skimmers and airtankers continue to support ground crews & have made good progress cooling the fire and dropping retardant along its flanks. #Penticton pic.twitter.com/3HqMYGrvFE
