UPDATE: Highway 1 still closed in fire zone

Highway 1 is still closed between Sorrento and Chase in the Shuswap.

Drive BC says the next update will be at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24.

The alternate routes are on Highways 97 and 97A or 97B.

The Bush Creek East wildfire continues to keep the Trans Canada Highway closed in part of the Shuswap.

Highway 1 has been shut down between Chase and Sorrento since last Friday, with motorists having to use Highways 97 and 97A or 97B instead.

Drive BC said on Tuesday, the next update will be at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23.

Aug. 21, 2023

Motorists will continue to need alternate highway routes in the Shuswap.

Drive BC said Monday Highway 1 remains closed between Chase and Sorrento for at least another day due to the wildfires.

The Trans Canada Highway has been closed since last Friday in that area.

Alternate routes are using Highways 97 and 97A or 97B.

The next update on the highway is set for Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 3 p.m. PDT.
