Police dog deployed to assist in arrest in Kelowna

Kelowna RCMP Police Dog Services assisted in the arrest of a man who allegedly assaulted another person with a weapon.

Mounties received reports of an assault with a weapon inside a residence on Bach Road just before 12 p.m. today (Sept. 3).

The suspect had fled the scene on foot before officers arrived.

Mounties searched the area with the support of a dog team with police service dog Mysan finding the man hiding under a nearby vehicle.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

In addition to the alleged assault, the man was also allegedly in breach of various orders previously imposed on him by the courts.

The victim was treated at the scene for minor, non-life threatening injuries.

The unnamed suspect, who is facing a number of potential charges, remains in police custody.
