Wildfire sparks near Lumby, now being held

The North Okanagan’s first wildfire of the year was recorded near Lumby over the weekend.

The B.C. Wildfire Service said a three hectare wildfire was discovered in the Creighton Valley area, southeast of Lumby, Sunday, March 17.

At last update, the wildfire was classified as “Being Held,” meaning it was not likely to spread any further.

Initial reports from the B.C. Wildfire Service stated the suspected cause of the fire was human activity.
