COVID-19 update: 1,984 new cases in B.C., 542 in Interior
British Columbia had an average of 661 new COVID-19 cases per day over the weekend for a total of 1,984.
Interior Health accounted for 542 of the new cases, for an average of 181 per day.
Active cases in IH are now at 1,618, with Fraser Health again having the most cases in B.C. with 609 new infections and 1,711 active cases.
There has been nine new COVID-related deaths since Friday including three in the Interior.
The breakdown of the new cases in B.C. are as follows:
* Sept. 10-11: 823 new cases
* Sept. 11-12: 641 new cases
* Sept. 12-13: 520 new cases
Just over 69 per cent of the new cases last week were among unvaccinated people, with 8.6 per cent involving partially vaccinated, and 22.2 per cent involving those fully vaccinated.
Since December 2020, the province has administered 7,618,453 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.
There have been two new health-care facility outbreaks at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (Interior Health) and Opal by Element (Vancouver Coastal Health), for a total of 24 active outbreaks.
Update on Interior Health outbreaks:
· Brookhaven Care Centre in West Kelowna has 17 cases: 10 residents and seven staff, with three deaths connected to the outbreak.
· Cottonwoods Care Centre long-term care in Kelowna has 30 cases: 20 residents and 10 staff, with six deaths connected to the outbreak.
· David Lloyd Jones long-term care in Kelowna has 55 cases: 41 residents and 14 staff, with seven deaths connected to the outbreak.
· Village at Mill Creek assisted living/independent living in Kelowna has 12 cases: seven residents and three staff with two deaths connected to the outbreak.
· Nicola Meadows assisted living/independent living in Merritt has seven cases: four residents and three staff, with one death connected to the outbreak.
· Hardy View Lodge long-term care in Grand Forks has four cases: one resident and three staff.
· Spring Valley Care Centre long-term care in Kelowna has 15 cases: 11 residents and four staff, with two deaths connected to the outbreak.
· Sun Pointe Village assisted living/independent living in Kelowna has eight resident cases, with one death connected to the outbreak.
· Rose Wood Village long-term care in Trail has two resident cases.
· Kamloops Seniors Village long-term care has 19 cases: 10 residents and nine staff, with one death connected to the outbreak.
· Hillside Village long-term care in Salmon Arm has eight cases: three resident and five staff.
· The Hamlets at Westsyde long-term care in Kamloops has five cases: three residents and two staff.
· Joseph Creek Village long-term care in Cranbrook has 13 cases: eight residents and five staff.
· Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail has two patient cases.
