Severe thunderstorm watch for Okanagan

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Okanagan.

Environment Canada said at 3:13 p.m. Thursday conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain.

“Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall,” the agency stated.

It’s been a wet last few days including Wednesday when the Vernon area received 13.1 millimetres of rain, mainly from a major downpour around 6 p.m.

Kelowna received 23.4 millimetres of rain on the same day.
