An investigation has been launched into a residential break and enter that occurred when two people, including a child, were at the home.

West Kelowna RCMP said the break in occurred at a home in the 3200 block of McIver road on the morning of August 10.

The homeowners were out for a walk at the time, but their adult daughter and her child were in the home’s basement.

Mounties said the daughter heard a commotion coming from the upstairs of the house and thought her parents were back home.

The break and enter suspect stole cash and a credit card before leaving the residence.

The card was used at three local businesses before being reported stolen, and a surveillance camera at one of those locations caught an image of the suspect.

At the time, the male suspect was wearing a dark coloured camouflage shirt with a hood over his head, sunglasses, a grey baseball hat, dark jeans, and white and orage running shoes.
