Do Not Consume Water Notice lifted for Kelowna neighbourhood
The roughly 1,500 residents who get water from the Grainger Road reservoir are no longer under a Do Not Consume notice.
The City of Kelowna lifted the notice Wednesday, August 21, after testing by Interior Health showed the water was safe to drink.
The notice was issued Monday out of an abundance of caution after a break-in at the reservoir.
“Our team has completed all necessary water quality testing over the last couple of days and there is no result that has indicated that Monday’s break-in resulted in any issues with our water supply,” Andy Weremy, Kelowna’s Water Operations Manager, said.
“A big thank-you to affected residents for their patience and understanding as we worked through this unexpected incident this week.”
The investigation into the break-in remained open Wednesday, and anyone with information on the incident was asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300, or to file an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
