Swim advisory lifted for Rotary Park Beach

The water at Kelowna’s Rotary Park is once again safe for swimmers.

Water sample testing by Interior Health shows the bacterial levels at the beach had dropped down to the safe range for swimmers on Friday, August 23.

The advisory was issued Thursday, but the City of Kelowna noted water quality at beaches can fluctuate due to currents, changing environmental factors, plant debris, and other factors.

To help keep the beach water quality clean and safe for swimmers, the city asked people to not feed birds, including ducks and geese; to only allow pets in the water at designated dog beaches; to not litter; to change children’s diapers in bathroom facilities; to dispose of boat sewage in onshore sanitary facilities; to wash hands with soap and water after using the restroom or changing a diaper; and to not go in the water with diarrhea.
