Pseople whose family members need medical treatment in the Central Okanagan will have more opportunities for short-term accommodations.

The Kelowna General Hospital Foundation (KGH Foundation) has opened the bidding process to expand JoAnne’s House, the facility where families can stay while a loved one from outside the community seeks treatment.

“Over the last 18 months especially, the ongoing waitlist for families in need has become a real concern,” Darlene Haslock, JoeAnna’s House Director, stated.

“Since JoeAnna’s House opened in 2019, we’ve had to turn away or delay check-in for over 919 families. It’s heart-breaking.”

To meet that increased demand, the KGH Foundation launched a fundraising campaign for the JoAnna’s House expansion. Donations can be made online.

“We will once again need community support to fund this much-needed expansion and look forward to announcing our fundraising effort in late October,” Allison Young, CEO of the KGH Foundation, added.

The bid opportunity can also be found online.
