Kelowna home significantly damaged in overnight fire

A home in Kelowna was significantly damaged in an overnight fire that started on the deck.

Kelowna Fire Department said crews responded to the home in the 2000 block of Polo Road for reports of a fire on a deck at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9.

Crews arrived on the scene and found the deck fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to the interior of the home.

Crews extinguished the flames outside and inside the home, but not before the interior was significantly damaged and the deck was destroyed.

The Fire Department said no one was home at the time as there was work being done on the property, and there were no injuries reported.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was underway as of Thursday.
