Police have not released any information on the victim.

The RCMP asks that anyone who had contact with Smith in the hours leading up to the incident contact the Southeast District Major Crime unit at 1-877-987-8477.

Smith was arrested near Armstrong on Monday, Sept. 20, a few hours after a body was found at a site on Back Enderby Road.

“This investigation developed quickly from a very dynamic and dangerous situation and its speedy result can only be attributed to the effective co-ordination between the Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP, RCMP Air Services, the Southeast District Emergency Response Team and the Southeast District Major Crime Unit,” said S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet, Senior Media Relations Officer, BC RCMP Communication Services.

Smith appeared in Kelowna provincial court Sept. 21 and will return to court Sept. 27 for a bail hearing.
