Central Okanagan schools show support following Tumbler Ridge tragedy

Central Okanagan Public Schools is expressing sympathy and solidarity with the community of Tumbler Ridge following a tragic and deeply traumatic event that has reverberated through school communities across British Columbia and beyond.

In a statement, the district said its top priority remains the safety and well being of students and staff. Officials noted that news of this nature can have wide ranging emotional impacts, particularly within school environments.

School staff across the Central Okanagan received guidance and resources Wednesday morning aligned with the provincial response to support school communities at all levels.

As a sign of respect, flags have been lowered at all Central Okanagan schools and facilities.
