Yard waste collection resumes across Central Okanagan
Yard waste collection in the Central Okanagan returns Monday, March 2.
Residents with regular garbage and recycling service will have green-lidded carts picked up every two weeks until the end of December.
Residents are asked to check carts and remove items that do not belong, including garbage, plastics, pet waste, rocks, and sod. Accepted materials include leaves, tree needles, grass clippings, branches, garden plants, and fruit droppings.
Collected yard waste is composted into GlenGrow, a soil amendment for lawns and gardens. To ensure high-quality compost, carts should be free of contaminants and frozen contents loosened before pickup.
Additional carts and drop-off options are available through local municipalities.
Collection schedules can be found on the Recycle Coach app or at rdco.com/pickup-schedule. GlenGrow is available in limited quantities until production resumes in mid-to-late March.
