B.C. records 1,986 new COVID-19 cases, 414 in Interior
British Columbia averaged 662 new COVID-19 cases per day over the weekend, for a total of 1,986.
That includes 617 new cases on Saturday, 707 on Sunday and 662 new cases today.
Interior Health (IH) had 414 new infections for an average of 138 per day.
That was the second highest total among the five health regions with Fraser Health on top with 782 new cases.
IH now has 1,132 active cases, part of the 5,986 in B.C. Of the active cases, 326 people are in hospital and 142 are in intensive care.
Since Friday, 10 new deaths have been reported for an overall total of 1,983.
The new deaths include one in Interior Health, five in Fraser Health, two in Vancouver Coastal Health and two in Northern Health.
Past week cases (Sept. 24–30) – Total 5,106
* Not vaccinated: 3,303 (64.7 per cent)
* Partially vaccinated: 346 (6.8 per cent)
* Fully vaccinated: 1,457 (28.5 per cent)
Past two weeks cases hospitalized (Sept. 17–30) – Total 383
* Not vaccinated: 272 (71.0 per cent)
* Partially vaccinated: 40 (10.4 per cent)
* Fully vaccinated: 71 (18.5 per cent)
As of today (Oct. 4), 88.2 per cent of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 81.6 per cent have received two doses.
There have been two new health-care facility outbreaks at Manoah Manor and Good Samaritan Delta View Care Centre (Fraser Health). The outbreaks at Hallmark on the Lake (Fraser Health), Arbutus Care Centre (Vancouver Coastal Health), Kamloops Seniors Village and Hardy View Lodge (Interior Health) have been declared over, for a total of 20 active outbreaks.
Update on Interior Health outbreaks:
· Cottonwoods Care Centre long-term care in Kelowna has 52 cases: 41 residents and 11 staff, with six deaths connected to the outbreak.
· The Hamlets at Westsyde long-term care in Kamloops has six cases: three residents and three staff.
· Joseph Creek Village long-term care in Cranbrook has 15 cases: nine residents and six staff, with two deaths connected to the outbreak.
· Overlander Long-Term Care in Kamloops has 22 cases: 16 residents and six staff with two deaths connected to the outbreak.
· Village by the Station long-term care in Penticton has 22 cases: 14 residents and eight staff with one death connected to the outbreak.
· Royal Inland Hospital unit 6N in Kamloops has two patient cases.
