The Conservative M.P. for Kelowna-Lake Country is calling on the federal government to immediately reopen the Kelowna Airport to international travel, or at least provide a timeline for when it will re-open.
“The ongoing closure of the Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is costing the airport $2.5 million, not to mention the costs to our tourism, hospitality and manufacturing industries,” said Tracy Gray in a posting on her Facebook page.
International flights have not been able to get in or out of the airport since the spring of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions.
Gray maintains YLW is the only airport among Canada’s ten busiest that is still closed to international flights.
