A second respiratory illness outbreak has been declared in the Central Okanagan in less than a week.
Interior Health identified an outbreak of Influenza A at the Spring Valley long term care facility in Kelowna Tuesday.
The respiratory virus that causes symptoms of fever, headache and muscle pain, runny nose, extreme tiredness, and sore throat and cough, had spread throughout the entire facility.
The outbreak came on the heels of the same virus being found in the Vineyards and Hall’s Landing units of the Lakeview Lodge facility in West Kelowna Friday.
In both cases Interior Health said measures were in place to try to limit the spread including enhanced cleaning and sanitization, increased use of personal protective equipment, and cancelling or rescheduling non-essential outings, activities and appointments.
