UPDATE: Six people injured in Coquihalla crash

UPDATE 2:45 p.m.

Six people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the Coquihalla Highway near Larson Hill this morning.

BC Health Services said two of the victims are in critical condition and were airlifted to hospital while four others suffered serious injuries in the crash 35 kilometres southwest of Merritt involving a tractor-trailer unit around 11 a.m.

RCMP say a commercial truck and trailer collided with four passenger vehicles. When emergency crews arrived on scene, four of the five vehicles involved were on fire.

At last report, the Coquihalla was closed in both directions.

Snowy conditions on the Coquihalla Highway have led to a closure.

According to Drive BC, there is a closure in both directions on the Coquihalla between Merritt and Hope due to a vehicle incident.

A photo posted to social media shows a multi-vehicle crash in the area of Larson Hill, including a semi truck.

Drive BC says motorists should expect significant delays due to the incident.
