500 new COVID-19 cases in B.C., 121 in Interior Health

B.C. had 500 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, along with five more deaths, pushing the province’s death toll to 2,223.
There are 4,301 active cases across the province, with 426 people in hospital, including 124 in intensive care.
Interior Health had 121 new infections, with 745 active cases, an increase of 63 from Monday.
A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops — there are now 33 ongoing outbreaks in health-care facilities.
Here are the updates on the other outbreaks in Interior Health:
- Cottonwoods Care Centre long-term care in Kelowna has 70 cases: 55 residents and 15 staff, with 17 deaths connected to the outbreak.
- Village by the Station long-term care in Penticton has 41 cases: 27 residents and 14 staff, with three deaths connected to the outbreak.
- Sun Pointe Village long-term care in Kelowna has 10 cases: seven residents and three staff.
- Brocklehurst Gemstone long-term care in Kamloops has six cases: four resident and two staff.
- Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops:
= Unit 5S has 27 cases: 20 patients and seven staff/other with one death connected to the outbreak.
= Unit 7N has four patient cases.
- Millar College of the Bible in Tappen has 31 cases.
