Rise in COVID-19 cases
COVID-19 cases were up today in both B.C., and in Interior Health (IH).
The health ministry reported 468 cases around the province (up from 324 on Wednesday) and 85 in IH (50 on Wednesday).
Active cases were down slightly in IH to 612, (decrease of 10) and down by 35 provincially to 3,345.
Nine more people died of the virus for an overall total of 2,290. One of those was in Interior Health, with five in fraser Health, two in Northern Health and one for Island Health.
There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks. The outbreak in the rehabilitation unit at Queen’s Park Care Centre has been declared over, for a total of 21 facilities with ongoing outbreaks.
As of today, 90.8 per cent of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 87 per cent have received two doses.
Update on Interior Health outbreaks:
- Village by the Station long-term care in Penticton has 41 cases: 27 residents and 14 staff, with three deaths connected to the outbreak.
- Sun Pointe Village long-term care in Kelowna has 10 cases: seven residents and three staff.
- Brocklehurst Gemstone long-term care in Kamloops has six cases: four resident and two staff.
- Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops:
– Unit 5S has 28 cases: 20 patients and eight staff/other with two deaths connected to the outbreak.
– Unit 7N has six cases: five patients and one staff/other with one death connected to the outbreak.
– Unit 6S has 10 patient cases.
– Unit 5N has 10 cases: five patients and five staff/other.
- Millar College of the Bible in Tappen has 33 cases.
