The death of a man in Kelowna almost two months ago has resulted in a woman facing a murder charge.

Kelowna RCMP was called to a residence in the 600 block of Bechard Road on the morning of Oct. 18, 2021 where they located the body of a dead man whose death was believed to be suspicious.

“A female suspect was arrested at the scene in connection with the investigation and released without charge,” said Constable Solana ParĂ©.

The latest development came this week when the BC Public Prosecution Service approved a charge of second degree murder in relation to the case.

“On Dec. 8, Kelowna RCMP arrested the suspect in Kamloops,” ParĂ© informed.

Billie Jo Bennett, a 54-year-old woman from the Kelowna area, remains in custody and is awaiting further court proceedings.

The victim’s name has not been released, nor has any further information on the case.
