Kelowna firefighters were able to minimize the damage from a fire at a restaurant this morning.

Crews responded to the Cactus Club in the 1500 block of Banks Road just before 7:00 a.m. after smoke was reported by an employee.

“The first arriving officer noted smoke coming from the soffit area at the rear of the building,” said platoon captain John Kelly. “A fire was found inside the exterior wall of a mechanical room located at the rear of the building.”

The fire was put out and contained to the mechanical room and exterior wall. It did not spread to the restaurant.

“The fire is most likely electrical in nature and will be investigated by KFD,” Kelly added.
