An Alberta resident was killed while another person from the Okanagan was injured in a two-vehicle crash west of Field B.C. over the weekend.

Police, and other emergency crews, attended the scene on Highway 1 around 9:30 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 5).

Officers say an eastbound cube delivery truck lost control on icy roads and entered the oncoming lane, colliding with a westbound pickup truck.

“The driver of the pickup truck, a man in his fifties from Alberta, died at the scene. The passenger of the pickup truck, a man in his forties from the Okanagan, was seriously injured and taken by STARS Air Ambulance to a hospital in Alberta,” said Cpl. Mike Halskov, media relations officer for BC Highway Patrol.

Police did not specify where in the Okanagan the injured man is from.

The two people in the delivery truck were not injured.

Highway 1 through Yoho National Park was closed for several hours as police and the BC Coroners Service investigated.

Anyone with information on the fatal crash, including any dashboard camera video, is asked to contact BC Highway Patrol in Golden at 250- 344-2221.
