Another incident of shots fired in Kelowna
RCMP are investigating the second incident of shots being fired in Kelowna in the last four days.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired outside a building in the 690-block of Academy Way around 9:40 p.m on Monday, Feb. 7.
“From speaking with witnesses, officers learned people were seen running away after the shots were fired and they departed in a vehicle,” said Cpl. Tammy Lobb, media relations officer.
Members of the RCMP Police Dog Services and the Forensic Identification Section attended to scene to assist with the investigation.
Lobb said at this time, no victims or injuries have been reported.
“This is the second shooting incident in our community in the past four days, and this incident occurred close to the UBCO campus,” Lobb commented. “Our investigators are working to identify those responsible and determine whether or not there is a correlation between these two incidents”.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net.
The previous shots fired incident in Kelowna was on Friday, Feb. 4.
Just after 8:00 p.m., police responded to multiple reports of gunshots in the 900 block of Fuller Avenue.
Officers flooded the area and learned that just moments after the shooting, two small vehicles were seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed.
A short time later, a report was received of a vehicle on fire in the 2300 block of Belgo Road. Kelowna fire crews responded and extinguished the blaze that destroyed the vehicle.
Investigators determined the vehicle was involved in the shooting and had been reported stolen from Kelowna earlier that evening.
