Interior Health closes out week with 335 new COVID-19 cases, three deaths
Interior Health’s streak of highest new COVID-19 cases has come to an end.
The province reported 335 new cases in the health authority Friday, the second highest in the province after Fraser Health where there were 350.
A total of 1,245 new cases were identified throughout B.C. Friday.
The province also reported 17 new deaths linked to the virus, three of which were located in the Interior.
To date, a total of 2,747 British Columbians have died due to COVID-19, 332 of whom were from the Interior.
The Ministry of Health reported that there were 846 British Columbians in hospital due to COVID-19 complications, down from 867 Thursday. The number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care also fell by two to 136 on Friday.
The province reported that first dose COVID-19 vaccination rates for all British Columbians aged five and older was at 90.3 per cent Friday while the second dose rate was 85 per cent.
In the 12 and over age group the provincial vaccination rates were 93.1 for first doses, 90.4 per cent for second jabs and 51.5 per cent for third shots.
Additionally, 93.4 per cent of adult British Columbians have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, 90.9 per cent have received two jabs and 54.3 per cent have received a booster.
Two new health-care facilities in Island Health were added to the provincial outbreak list, though nine, including the one at Monashee Mews in Lumby, were declared over. As of Friday there were 46 health-care facilities listed as active, 18 of which are located in the Interior.
