COVID death toll rises by 22, new cases & hospitalizations declining

Interior Health continues to lead British Columbia in new COVID-19 cases with 319 over the weekend (three day total), part of the 974 in the province.

COVID-related hospitalizations continue to decline with 549 (decrease of 50 from Friday), with 85 people in intensive care (decrease of 11).

The province’s COVID death toll increased by 22, including four people in the Interior, for an overall total of 2,873.

The Health Ministry reported two new health-care facility outbreaks at Sun Pointe Village and Fischer Place, both in Interior Health.

The outbreak at Trinity Care Centre (Interior Health) has been declared over, for a total of 28 facilities with ongoing outbreaks.

The province said 93.3 per cent of eligible people 12 and older have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, 90.7 per cent have had two shots, while 55.7 per cent have had a booster shot.
