First weekly COVID-19 report identifies 459 COVID-19 cases in Interior
The first weekly report from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) identified 459 new cases of COVID-19 and 39 hospitalizations in the Interior.
The figures were compiled between March 27 and April 2.
The Interior had the highest concentration of the new cases of all health authorities during the week, which totaled 1,706.
- Interior Health: 459 cases
- Fraser Health: 391 cases
- Vancouver Island Health: 377 cases
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 333 cases
- Northern Health: 145 cases
The cases from the previous week were down from the 498 confirmed in the Interior between March 20 and 26.
In the week ending April 2, there were 193 hospitalizations with COVID-19. Interior Health was home to 39 of those patients.
- Fraser Health: 73 hospitalizations
- Interior Health: 39 hospitalizations
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 36 hospitalizations
- Vancouver Island Health: 34 hospitalizations
- Northern Health: 11 hospitalizations
During the week, 11 British Columbians died due to COVID-19, with one of those deaths in the Interior.
- Northern Health: four deaths
- Vancouver Island Health: three deaths
- Vancouver Coastal Health: two deaths
- Interior Health: one death
- Fraser Health: one death
As of April 2, 2022, there have been 62,781 cases of COVID-19, 3,477 patients admitted to hospital with the virus, and 367 deaths due to COVID-19 in the Interior.
