The RCMP is asking for the public’s help finding a West Kelowna man who’s wanted for failing to comply with a release order. 24-year-old Aidan McLuskey ran from the location he was reported before police could get him, and since then there have been several sightings of him in the area of Gellatly Road. Police say if you see Aidan McLuskey, do not approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately. There’s a picture above.

The weekly covid update for BC showed 1,987 new cases including 445 in Interior Health. That’s down from 526 the previous week. There are 96 people in hospital in the region, 10 in critical care. 59 people in BC died from the virus in the past week.

Latvia’s prime minister was in Ottawa seeking Canada’s support for an expanded, permanent NATO force in his country and fellow Baltic states Lithuania and Estonia. He says an enhanced military presence will send a strong signal to Russia not to consider invading. Canada currently has nearly 700 troops leading a NATO battlegroup in Latvia, one of four forces in the Baltics.

A stun gun, fighting axe, knives, and small containers of drugs were seized from a cargo van in Kamloops. The woman behind the wheel was arrested for driving while suspended. The van was impounded for seven days, and the drugs and weapons were destroyed.

Fears that the public would panic if they receive alerts during dangerous situations are more myth than reality according to experts on emergency alert systems who testified at the public inquiry investigating Nova Scotia’s 2020 mass shooting. Police said an alert about a killer driving a replica patrol car would have caused a “frantic panic” among the public and put officers in danger. But a consultant and former Toronto police employee, called the theory the “panic myth,” and said alerts should be clear, concisely stated and provide direction.

British Columbia’s Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed it dropped two dozen COVID-19 violation tickets against three Chilliwack pastors who continued in-person worship services in violation of provincial public health orders. The service says that Crown lawyers reviewed the 24 charges and found that the ‘assessment standard was no longer met,’ but noted similar cases remain before the court.

About 3,000 Mariupol civilians are being detained in prisons controlled by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine. The country’s human rights chief says authorities in Kyiv had received reports of people being tortured, interrogated, threatened with execution and forced to cooperate, while others just disappeared after interrogations. Ukrainian authorities are calling on the U.N. to intervene.

The moon will turn a brownish-red Sunday night during the first total lunar eclipse of the year. Best time to see it, if the clouds go away, will be between 8:30 and 10. After that, the moon will leave earth’s shadow, and it will be a dark grey colour.

NHL playoffs last night saw the Edmonton Oilers take a 4-2 win over the Kings in Los Angeles to tie their best of seven at 3 games each heading back to Alberta. And the Lightning beat the Leafs 4-3 in overtime to force game 7 tomorrow in Toronto.

The Blue Jays begin 3 weekend games in Tampa Bay today against the Rays. Tampa is second in the AL East, one spot ahead of Toronto.

The CFL Players’ Association has told its members to report to training camp so the union is in a position to execute a legal work stoppage if needed. The league’s current CBA expires tomorrow, with training camps scheduled to open on Sunday. The BC Lions are back in Kamloops for camp.

In Texas at the PGA Tour’s AT&T Byron Nelson, Colombia’s Sebastian Muñoz shot an incredible 12 under par to take the lead heading into day 2. His round included 2 Eagles, 9 Birdies and 1 Bogey.

The Calgary Flames can move on to the next round of the NHL playoffs with a win tonight in Dallas. The Albertans lead the best of seven, 3 games to 2.

First overall pick in the NFL Draft, Travon Walker, has agreed to terms on his rookie contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He will receive a fully guaranteed four-year deal worth just over 37 million bucks
