Handgun, drugs, stolen property seized during Kelowna traffic stop
A stolen handgun, stolen tools, a catalytic converter, and suspected drugs were recovered during a traffic stop in Kelowna Tuesday.
Members of the Kelowna RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a Chrysler 300 that was driving erratically on Baron Road at 2 a.m. Tuesday, May 10.
After speaking with the driver and passenger and conducting further investigation, the responding officers located over 210 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 24 grams of suspected cocaine and 11 grams of suspected fentanyl.
A loaded handgun, a replica handgun, an undisclosed amount of cash, tool and a catalytic converter were also seized.
The investigation determined that the loaded firearm was stolen from a Kelowna residence in 2021.
The driver, a 42 year old woman, and the passenger, a 41 year old man, were arrested at the scene for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The driver was released without charges and the passenger was released to appear in court at a later date. The driver is possibly facing charges related to the arrest.
Officers are attempting to identify where the tools and catalytic converter were stolen from, and anyone who can identify the items is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and quote file 2022-27426.
