Search continues along creek for missing Kelowna woman
Kelowna RCMP is asking the public for help locating a missing woman.
Chelsea Cardno, a 31-year-old Kelowna woman, was reported missing Tuesday, June 14 after leaving her residence on Dougall Road South at approximately 8 a.m. to walk her German Shepherd “JJ” near the Mission Greenway.
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR), RCMP Air Services and Kelowna RCMP Forensic Identification Services conducted ground, water and air searchers throughout Tuesday afternoon and evening. While officers did locate Cardno’s white BMW parked at the north end of Pasadena Road, they were not able to locate the missing woman or the dog.
COSAR was tasked with resuming the search Wednesday.
Cardno is described as 4’11” tall, weighing 108 lbs with brown hair and blonde highlights. She was last seen wearing a blue or grey cap, a bright red puffy jacket, sweatpants and black lace-up style army boots.
Cardno’s family and police are both concerned for her safety and well being.
“At the time Chelsea went missing, the water level of Mission Creek was high and fast-moving,” stated Cst. Mike Della-Paolera, Media Relations Officer for the Kelowna RCMP.
“While searching the area, COSAR rescued over-turned kayakers at the mouth of Mission Creek. Given the local state of emergency, the Kelowna RCMP are asking citizens to stay away from Mission Creek.”
Anyone who may have been in the Mission Greenway and Mission Creek area Tuesday and may have seen Cardno and her dog are asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or to file an anonymous report with Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
