The body of an Alberta man who went missing after diving into Okanagan Lake has been recovered.
The discovery came after a three day search using sonar by the West Kelowna RCMP and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team,
Police say the man, who was reported missing on June 17, was located in 64 meters of water about 500 metres from where he went missing.
“This was a tragic and sad event to start our summer season here in the sunny Okanagan” said Constable Mike Della-Paolera, media relations officer. “Our condolences to the man’s family and friends during this time.”
The victim, identified in reports as 34-year-old Oluwaseun Samson Adedeji of Calgary, reportedly jumped off a boat and never resurfaced. The incident reportedly happened near Squally Point, south of Rattlesnake Island, as Adedeji and five friends were out on the lake as part of a vacation.
