Data from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) shows overall instances of COVID-19 are on the decline in the Interior and in British Columbia, but cases are staying flat in Vernon.

The report from the week of June 19 to 25 confirmed 72 cases of COVID-19 in the Interior and 620 in all of B.C.

Those were down from the 83 Interior cases and 642 cases in B.C. recorded the previous week.

The figures show there were four cases of COVID-19 in the Vernon health area in the last week, which were the same amount of cases confirmed in the area the week before.

Enderby and Armstrong-Spallumcheen all had no new cases, with one in Salmon Arm and 22 in the Central Okanagan. Click here for the B.C. community numbers.

The BCCDC data shows there were 169 British Columbians admitted to hospital with COVID-19 in the latest reporting week, including 11 from the Interior. Both those are down from the 194 hospital admissions in B.C. and 16 in the Interior recorded the previous week.

The centre said there were three deaths linked to COVID-19 in the Interior and 17 across all of B.C. in the week ending June 25. Those figures reflect significant declines from the previous week when there were 12 deaths in the Interior and 32 in all of B.C.

The BCCDC reports did not provide details on hospital admissions or deaths in specific health areas.

To date, there have been 374,594 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in B.C., 66,720 of which were in the Interior, and 5,563 in the Vernon health area.

A total of 3,747 people in B.C. have died with COVID-19, including 533 deaths in the Interior.
