RCMP investigating fatal UTV crash
Charges could be laid against a driver after a fatal crash of an ultra terrain vehicle (UTV) in Lake Country.
On Saturday, July 2, at 4:15 a.m., Lake Country RCMP received a report of a UTV roll-over on Spion Kop Mountain in the area of Summit Trail.
When officers arrived on scene, they located the UTV.
“The passenger, a 34-year-old man, had succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver, also a 34-year-old man, was arrested at the scene for impaired operation causing death and he was transported to hospital by EHS with minor injuries,” said Cpl. Tammy Lobb, watch commander.
The Lake Country Fire Department, BC Ambulance Service, Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) and Kelowna RCMP Forensic Identification Services assisted with this investigation.
“The driver is possibly facing charges related to his arrest and the investigation is on-going,” Lobb added.
The BC Coroners Service is conducting its own investigation into the death.
