A resident of a small Shuswap community is the talk of the town after a big lottery win.

Larry Anderson of Tappen says he is still in shock after securing a $1-million prize from the June 8, 2022 Lotto 6/49 guaranteed draw.

Anderson was at home with his wife when he he checked his ticket on the BC Lottery Corporation’s Lotto! App.

“My wife saw something on Facebook that said there was a winner in our area,” he recalled of the moment he realized he was a winner. “I hadn’t really thought about what I would do if I won.”

Anderson, who bought his ticket from the Blind Bay Village Grocer, plans to take some time to decide what to do with his prize.

“I need to think about it for a while first,” he explained.

Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and each draw includes a Guaranteed Prize Draw of $1 million.

So far in 2022, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $83 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
