Opera Under the Stars to go at UBCO
The Opera Under the Stars event is returning to UBC Okanagan (UBCO).
Opera Under the Stars (OPUS) returns to the UBCO courtyard August 10 for a free evening of operatic singing in a summer festival atmosphere.
The program will feature a variety of operatic arias and ensembles.
“We are delighted to bring OPUS back this summer and can’t wait to present our amazing guest artists,” said Opera Kelowna Artistic Director Rosemary Thomson.
“This unique evening reunites our community with the power of live music and a magical setting under the stars at UBC Okanagan.”
The performance will showcase the cast of Opera Kelowna’s upcoming production of Béatrice et Bénédict, as well as instructors and artists from its Valley Opera Summer Intensive program.
“I’m looking forward to enjoying an evening of faculty-sponsored musical marvels, in good company under the stars once again,” said Greg Garrard, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies.
Seating at the show will be festival format, and people are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs as well as their own picnic and beverages. Food and beverage sales will be available prior to the concert starting at 7 p.m. August 10.
The concert is free to attend but space is limited and people are required to register online in advance.
