Pre-campaign period for civic elections begins Monday
The pre-campaign period for the 2022 municipal elections in British Columbia begins Monday, July 18.
The election advertising rules also come into effect on that day.
Those rules include having third party advertisers register with Elections B.C.; including the names and contact information of sponsors on advertisements.
The advertisers have to be an independent and not sponsor on behalf of the candidate, not spend more than the expense limit, and they have to file disclosure statements.
The pre-campaign period will end on Sept. 16, with the regular campaign period beginning the following day and continuing until General Voting Day on Oct. 15.
The election advertising rules will remain in effect throughout the entire pre- and regular campaign periods.
Further details on the campaign financing and advertising rules for the elections can be found at the Elections B.C.’s website.
The nomination period for council, regional district and school board candidates is from Aug. 30 to Sept. 9, 2022.
