Apartment fire
Kelowna firefighters were called to a fire at an apartment building Saturday afternoon.
The department received multiple 911 calls around 4:30 p.m. reporting a structure fire in the 1800 block of Country Club Drive.
Platoon captain Jarrett Dais said once at the scene, smoke and flame were visible on the back-side balcony of a six-story apartment building that was difficult to access.
“Crews made an interior attack to the sixth floor using the standpipe water system. Two suites had to be breeched on the fifth and sixth floors to extinguish fire that appeared to start on the balcony of the sixth floor suite,” said Dais.
No residents were home in either unit when the fire broke out.
No injuries were reported.
There was extensive water damage from the sprinkler system to all floors.
