COVID-19 cases up slightly across B.C.
The B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is reporting some slight increases to the COVID-19 cases in the province.
The report from the week of July 24 to 30 found there were nine cases in the Vernon health area, 164 in Interior Health, and 983 in all of B.C.
Vernon’s figure was the same as the previous week, while the Interior was up from 162 and the provincial total rose from the 921 recorded the week before.
The Central Okanagan had 32 official cases.
Though cases were up, the number of hospital admissions due to the virus across B.C. were down to 242, including 35 intensive care unit admissions. Those figures were down from the 281 hospitalizations and 45 ICU admissions the week prior.
In the Interior, there were 33 hospital admissions, down from 34, and seven ICU admissions, which was up from the five recorded the previous week.
There was a decline in deaths linked to the virus, as 28 were recorded in B.C., three of which came from the Interior. The previous week had seen a total of 32 deaths, six of which were in the Interior.
To date, there have been 379,274 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in B.C., 67,397 of which were from the Interior and 5,590 from the Vernon health area.
A total of 3,940 British Columbians have died due to COVID-19, including 560 people from the Interior.
The BCCDC did not provide hospitalization or death data for specific health areas.
